Julia Paul is an artist and potter living in Virginia. She has a background in contemporary art and an MFA in painting. Since opening her ceramics studio in 2011 she has been designing and making quality tableware and one-of-a-kind art pieces with a focus on natural forms and modern design.
Located in the mountains of Virginia, Julia Paul Pottery is influenced by the local landscape, which is filled with fields and forest. From elegant tableware to one-of-a-kind modern decor, each piece is distinguished by refined simplicity with an earthy spirit. Julia Paul Pottery is the result of responding to the materials while incorporating the restraint of minimalism and the freedom of abstraction. This produces fresh, natural designs that are adaptable to many decor and table styles.
Her tableware has been seen in publications such as Food and Wine, and Craft Magazine, and she has been a Featured Seller on Etsy. Her work has been featured on numerous design and food blogs, including Design Sponge, 2Modern, Food52, and West Elm's Front + Main. Her pottery can be found in select retail shops in the US, Canada, Australia, and Japan.
All tableware is made of stoneware with lead free glazes, and fired in an electric kiln to cone 5/6, which is over 2160°F. Her studio follows eco-conscious, sustainable practices, always seeking to bridge a connection between beautiful and smart.
Julia Paul has recently introduced a line of fine note cards of original Polaroid images taken in the mountains of Virginia. Printed on silky matte paper and blank inside, they are an elegant way to stay in touch.
